Lumos 2024, is the annual photography exhibition hosted by the Department of Media Studies at Kristu Jayanti College Autonomous, Bengaluru, this illuminated the campus. This was organized on February 22, 2024, it was a celebration of visual storytelling and artistic expression. This much-anticipated event was inaugurated by Fr. Jais V Thomas, Financial Administrator and Director of Jayantian Extension Services, and graced by the esteemed presence of Fr. Joshy Mathew, Director of the Department of Media Studies, Library and Information Centre, HR Department, and Head of the Department of English, marked a significant milestone in the college's cultural calendar. With the resonant theme of "Chiaroscuro," a term borrowed from the world of visual arts denoting the interplay of light and shadow, Lumos 2024 sought to explore the different contrast and illumination in the realm of photography. However, beyond the thematic focus, the exhibition also welcomed open entries on various other significant themes, reflecting the diverse interests and perspectives of the participating photographers.
The exhibition space, happened within the M1 Auditorium, served as a canvas for the display of over 250 captivating photographs captured by the talented photographers within the Kristu Jayanti College community. Each image served as a testament to the keen eye, technical skill, and creative vision of its creator, offering viewers a glimpse into a myriad of narratives, emotions, and experiences. From breathtaking landscapes to intimate portraits, from thought-provoking conceptual pieces, candid moments of everyday life, the photographs showcased at Lumos 2024 spanned a spectrum of subjects and styles, showcasing the rich tapestry of human experience through the lens of the camera. Every image, carefully curated and presented, invited viewers to pause, reflect, and appreciate the beauty and complexity of the world around them.
By the end of the day on Lumos 2024,
leaving behind a trail of inspiration and admiration, it became evident that
the exhibition had succeeded in its mission of "adding light to
life." Through the power of photography, participants and viewers alike
were reminded of the beauty that surrounds us, the stories that connect us.
